Francis House Shining Stars

Back in Novemeber 2017, when our beautiful boy first grew his angel wings, we launched our initial gofundme fundraiser. We are now an established Charity, that is raising money soley to help families and children suffering with a Cancer diagnosis being treated on Ward 84 Royal Manchester Children’s hospital but back then we didnt know where our journey would lead us we just knew we wanted to raise money to give back to the areas that we visited during Joshuas illness.
Francis House was a big part of our goodbye journey, Joshua visited Francis House after he passed away to stay in the Rainbow Room, which gave us an extra week with him to say our goodbyes, we will be forever grateful for this extra time we got to spend with our boy. Joshuas illness was such a shock that this extra week meant so much to us. We are so thankful to the staff who treated Joshua with the respect and dignity he deserved and who also made sure we ate whenever we visited as they knew feeding ourselves was a task that was impossible at the time.
Another one of the many ways Francis House supported us is by inviting Harvey to a support group. Last summer Harvey enrolled in a group called Shining Stars which is a grieving and bereavement group for children that have lost a sibling. The group met regularly and would do age appropriate activities that would help them understand the grief they are going through. This group really helped Harvey channel his emotions and he found it so comforting making friends with children that understood exactly how he felt.
After much thought and discussion we have decided that we would like the funds we raised for Francis House in our initial gofundme fundraiser to go towards the Shining Stars bereavement support group for children that are going through the trauma our children are still facing every day. We know first hand just how incredible this group is and how valuable the group and care team are.
Today, 20/08/19 Harvey proudly presented Francis House with a cheque of £5000 to go towards funding the next Shining Stars programme. It meant so much to him to give back to this programme when he knows just how incredibly special it is.
Thank you to all that donated to our initial gofundme page and for your on going love and support since then ❤🌈
